Sono stati annunciati gli annuali vincitori dei Golden Joystick Awards, il comitato di premiazione per l’industria videoludica attivo dal 1983. La cerimonia di assegnazione dei trofei si è tenuta a Bloomsbury Big Top a Londra. Il processo di selezione si è svolto attraverso l’ausilio della community globale dei giocatori, che ha votato per i titoli nominati ai prestigiosi encomi. Le votazioni si sono tenute online, per eleggere il migliore fra i giochi in merito a diverse categorie. La cerimonia, inizialmente contenuta in rilievo e dimensione, era dapprima aperta solo ai titoli per PC. Solo in seguito, con la crescita del mercato, sono stati inclusi anche i titoli per console.
