What happens when you get a bunch of former cinema visual effects guys together to make a game?
Apparently you get something akin to Skyrim meets Dead Island, as you do with SKS Games’ upcoming survival horror game, The Forest.  Developed specifically with the Oculus Rift in mind, the creators don’t have much of a history in video game creation, but their film credits include SFX work in movies such Tron Legacy and 300. The game itself is reminiscent of films such as Evil Dead, The Blair Witch Project, and Cabin in the Woods. For unknown game creators, the team certainly has lofty goals with promises of complex enemies that even have their own belief system built into their AI. This wouldn’t be the first time an unknown team has made such promises before and the Oculus Rift certainly has no shortage of horror games at this point.

The question is can SKS Games separate themselves from the pack? The possibilities of a true open world survival horror game coupled with the immersion of virtual reality could prove to be absolutely fantastic or find itself on the pile of corpses of horror video games gone wrong.
